meditation can seem like a luxury or something which is pleasant, but not important for modern life.
that is so wrong.
just look around and:
- notice all the smartphones (designed specifically to manipulate our minds),
- watch consciousness-melting media,
- consider the work & social pressures we are under and the lifestyles we lead.
it doesn't have to be like this.
science increasingly understands the power of watching our brains, what sitting is really about, how we can optimise our minds and our emotions for a fully human experience of life.
it is not complex.
but we get so sidetracked. we get confused... no wonder it is confusing when so we don't know what we are doing to our minds each day... and what we could do.
meditation is a super-powerful brain hack, a big power-up, a super drug... and it is very good for the parts of your brain we ignore.

so. let's begin!
in this short workshop, i will share with you the beginnings of scientific research into meditation...where it all began.
freud & jung: the big boys of psychiatry.
be free of dogma and rules that separate yoga schools and meditation traditions let go of eastern philosophy and energy and chakras and outer-world experiences.
(though I love those too).
let's see what the modern scientific brain has to say.
curious?

because science has been watching...
this could really impact our lives, our culture.
some of us just need to have it spoken clearly to us.
sitting mindfully is not bad science.
it is great science.
get with it.

I enjoy and am intrigued by your answers, they make me smile. Very thought-provoking. Your courses are very well thought out and delivered. I admire your knowledge and experience; in turn, this gives me confidence in my teaching.

I was interested in the Daoist approach and suspected Dhugal would have a good grounding in this area - I was not at all disappointed. I am also very interested in the science of meditation aspect. I think Dhugal covered all these aspects well.

I have to say, the course was really good. Full of information and new knowledge. The best thing was: I can study from my home, and take the practice in my everyday life -where all my difficulties are.
This is the way I learn.
