Wondering what is in our
12-month program?
Here's a simple overview of your curriculum:
Theory Overview
- A Brief History of QiGong & TaiJi Quan
- Qigong Breathing
- QiGong Stances
- 3 Principles of Practice
- The QiGong secret sauce method
- The Qi for 2 drill
- The 5 phases of practice
- The target areas of qigong practice
- Function not Sets
- What You Can Do with your Qi 1: (and Where) is Your Cinnabar Field - And Why it is important in QiGong
Months 1-2
Set I: The 8 Brocades
One of the world's most famous sets practiced functionally. Learn the shape of each movement, then adapt it to your own body. We also learn the foundations of a QiGong practice.
Months 3-6
Set II: Shi Ba Shi QiGong
Created in Shanghai in 1979, the Taiji QiGong Shibashi combines the power of Tai Chi movements with the healing effect of QiGong and Meditation and is a good bridge between these worlds.
Months 7-8
Set III: The Fascia Changing Classic
Yi Jin Jing translates to "changing or metamorphosing muscle and fascia". The exercises, coordinated with breathing, are intended to improve pelvic floor strength, endurance, balance, and coordination.
Months 9-12
Set IV: LuoHan Gong
Based on the techniques of Sinew Metamorphosis attributed to Bodhidharma, the founder of the Chan (Zen) school of Buddhism.
But! Sets don't tell the whole story.
It's the methodology that really makes my program unique.
My style focuses on Functional QiGong, the importance of feeling Qi flow through our bodies rather than what it looks like. To achieve this, we have many methods:
- The Qi for 2 drill,
- The 5-Phases of Practice,
- Target Areas of Exercises, and
- The 3 Principles of Practice.
Whatever style you're practicing, I propose your teacher should be able to articulate the features that it can offer you, not just have you learn sets.
