WHAT IS ACUPUNCTURE?

Acupuncture is a key element of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), a medical system refined over thousands of years and now integrated into modern healthcare settings worldwide.
It involves the precise placement of ultra-fine, sterile needles along pathways known as meridians to regulate the body’s vital energy or Qi.

In practice, acupuncture promotes circulation, reduces inflammation, eases pain, and supports the body’s natural healing processes. Each treatment plan is individual — designed to restore balance between physical, emotional, and energetic aspects of health.

Each herbal formula is an elegant blend of roots, barks, flowers, and minerals chosen for your unique presentation. Rather than offering one-size-fits-all remedies, I prescribe a carefully personalised formula that addresses both the symptoms and the underlying causes of imbalance — supporting your body to recover and thrive.

WHAT CAN ACUPUNCTURE HELP WITH?

Acupuncture is well known for easing pain, but its scope is far broader. It’s used both to treat illness and to prevent it — supporting the body in returning to its natural state of balance.

It may help with:

  • Chronic and acute pain – back, neck, shoulders, hips, knees
  • Musculoskeletal conditions and injury recovery
  • Digestive issues – IBS, reflux, bloating
  • Women's health – menstrual irregularities, fertility, menopause
  • Stress, anxiety, and low mood
  • Fatigue and sleep disturbance
  • Respiratory symptoms – cough, allergies, sinusitis
  • Headaches and migraines

Acupuncture also works beautifully alongside Chinese herbal medicine, reinforcing results between in-person treatments.

A Natural and Evidence-Informed Practice

Your treatment draws on both the traditional wisdom of Chinese medicine and the insights of contemporary research. Acupuncture is recognised by the World Health Organization and widely practised in hospitals throughout Asia and increasingly in integrated Western clinics.

It’s a safe, holistic therapy that supports your body’s own capacity to heal, rebalance, and maintain wellbeing.

THEORY

Practice - Theory - Teach

Nurturing Deep Breath - Theory & Practice

Breath is at the center of the QiGong practice (Qi could refer to the energy of the breath). I will guide you on what healthy breath is and guide you through progressive practices on deepening your breath, your lung volume and your lung efficiency.

Qi & 3 Treasure Theory

What is Qi? Learn practical and very different tools for physical, mental and emotional (energetic) health.

Variable Anatomy For Dynamic Poses

Learn how to adapt the basic shapes of QiGong for your and your student's unique anatomy. We all have different shapes, proportions, and orientation of hard bones in our body. No alignment dogma, no guru dynamics. Healing is about the Qi, not the look.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Every session begins with a detailed consultation exploring your health history, symptoms, and lifestyle. I’ll use classical Chinese diagnostic methods, such as tongue and pulse analysis, to understand the underlying patterns at play.

Needles are inserted gently and strategically to rebalance the flow of Qi. You may feel a warm, pulsing, or gently releasing sensation — most people find treatments deeply relaxing.

Acupuncture sessions may also include additional therapies when appropriate:

  • Moxibustion – using warming moxa (mugwort) to nourish Yang, boost circulation, and relieve pain.
  • Gua Sha – a gentle scraping technique to release tension, move stagnation, and improve microcirculation.
  • Cupping – applying suction cups to loosen tight muscles, detoxify, and encourage Qi and blood flow.

These therapies can be combined into your treatment to enhance healing and speed recovery.

What To Expect

Your first session lasts approximately 70 minutes and includes a full assessment, discussion of your treatment aims, and your initial acupuncture treatment.
Follow-ups are typically 45–60 minutes and scheduled as needed to support your progress.

Initial session: £75
Follow-up sessions: [use your preferred rate/structure]

All treatments are delivered in a calm, confidential environment, designed for comfort and restoration.

Set I
The 8 Brocades
(Ba Duan Jin - 八段錦)

One of the world's most famous sets practiced functionally. Learn the shape of each movement, then adapt it to your own body. We also learn the foundations of a QiGong practice.

SET IV
The 18 Luohan Skills
(Shi Ba Luo Han Gong -
十八羅漢功)

Based on the techniques of Sinew Metamorphosis attributed to Bodhidharma, the founder of the Chan (Zen) school of Buddhism.

According to legend, Bodhidharma taught three fundamental principles of Zen practice: seated meditation, QiGong, and mindful movement.  Sound familiar?

The exercises are more athletic and more dynamic, and they are terrific for cultivating strength, flexibility, and internal power.
